Leaving Midlin, Kansas

Hey, I'm in a play! Well, actually just my pictures are. Andrea Springer, director of Leaving Midlin, Kansas, for the Hutchinson Theatre Guild asked me to contribute photos of Kansas to be shown behind the actors during the first act of the dramatic reading. I was tickled to do so.

Above are Lew Pearce, Todd Ray, Ashley Wegele, Michele McCartney, Caitlin Doornbos, Andrea Springer, Bob Colladay and Cody Martin. The Hutchinson Theatre Guild does some cool stuff; they're the same folks that brought us Talking Tombstones, which I understand they are doing again this year on October 23.

The play started last night and continues tonight (Friday) and Saturday nights at 7:30 PM at the former Gallery 7, 207 South Main, in the scenic Antique District of Hutchinson, Kansas. Tickets are $8.

Before the play, take in the cool ceiling tiles of the space.

Michele McCartney got into character with these uber-retro glasses.

The play is based on the works of author Tom Averill and artist Clark Britton. Britton's postcards remind me of sketch versions of the art of deceased Route 66 artist Bob Waldmire.

Here's the front of the venue, plastered with fliers. I just want to make sure you know what you're looking for.
