Historical Treats

Entertainer, historian and mid-century enthusiast Charles Phoenix, above,  handed out Twinkies on a Denver Modernism Show field trip to Casa Bonita and Lakeside Amusement Park this past August. Little did we know that our bus treats would, themselves, be history.

I hadn't had a Twinkie in years and won't miss them, but I am feeling a vague sense of loss over the option go out and buy Twinkies. Of course, I doubt that the brand will really go away, especially as Hostess is dissected by bankruptcy court and its tastier bits devoured by others. Surely, Twinkie the Kid will ride again.
