Just as last year, the Hutchinson (Kansas) Zoo is offering rides on its train, all decked out for the holidays. And the price hasn't gone up. Train rides are still $1.50 for adults and a dollar for kids. The train will run again tonight, December 4, as well as December 10 and 11 from 6PM to about 8PM.
Here's a video of the train rolling up to the platform last night:
My friend Patsy (above) and I rode it a couple times.
Here's a complete ride. The boy in front of me was excited to have seen a opossum in a tree, so I guess the train featured real wildlife as well as animals made of lights:
Santa rides an alligator (or is it a crocodile) out of the bush.
Patsy shot this photo of me in a festive elf hat.
Just as last year, there was a Christmas Tree Lane of trees decorated by local non-profit institutions.
The Nickerson High School Future Business Leaders of America club (FBLA) made bird feeder ornaments out of milk cartons.
Christmas Tree Lane is a free attraction.
At the end of the lane is a shelter building where $1.00 gets you one of these train cookies or a gingerbread man. Half of that will buy you a cup of hot cider or cocoa.
